Former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Kacy Catanzaro (formerly Katana Chance) and Lacey Lane (aka Kayden Carter) recently reunited for a virtual signing with WrestleFest. During the virtual chat, Lacey Lane shared a story about a talk she had with the WWE women’s division about ageism in wrestling for the women. Below are some highlights (via Fightful):

Lacey Lane on a talk the women had about ageism in wrestling: “I was having with the girls — we were talking one day, and I was talking to Naomi and all them girls, and we were like, ‘How come it’s glorified for men to be in their prime and they’re in their 30s and their 40s and they’re like, yes! They’re so amazing, they’re good but then as soon as the women get into it, they’re like, oh, they’re washed out, worn out’ and I’m like, no, we are looking phenomenal, we move phenomenal. I don’t know why that’s not a praised thing for the women because the women are doing their thing.”

On how people make it seem like 35 is old for women’s wrestler: “[When the host mentions that 35 is not old for anyone] No, but that’s what they make it seem like. That’s the taboo now because you’re bringing in the young people, and the young people are calling the people in their 30s, they’re calling them old, or vets… you know what I’m saying? You’re tired out.”

Kacy Catanzaro and Lacey Lane were released from WWE earlier in May.
