Maya World booked her place in the 2026 Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament finals courtesy of a shocking win over ROH Women’s World Champion Athena on tonight’s AEW Collision.

The June 20 episode of AEW Collision was headlined by the high-stakes bout between Athena and Maya World.

The back-and-forth contest ended in Maya World’s favor when Maya World countered a forearm attempt into a seatbelt pinfall to secure one of the biggest victories of her career.

Despite the defeat, Athena hugged World, and Mercedes Mone also came down to the ring to embrace her. However, it turned out to be a ruse, as Athena attacked World, and Mone gladly joined her, taking out her Forbidden Door opponent with the Statement Maker.

Despite the beatdown in the closing moments of Collision, it’s been a memorable past few weeks for Maya World. She wasn’t initially picked to compete in the tournament. However, an injury to Sareee paved the way for her to replace the Joshi star in the quarterfinal match against Skye Blue. After overcoming Athena, she is now one win away from winning the 2026 Women’s Owen Hart Cup. That match will be against Mercedes at Forbidden Door next Sunday.
