Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) has brought back the “Triple B” version of the AEW World Championship.

The Long Island native kicked off AEW Dynamite: New Year’s Smash to a mixed reaction from the Omaha crowd. MJF kicked off the show by brushing off the critics, taking full control of his legacy.

After throwing away the belt, MJF went on to introduce the “Triple B” version of the AEW World Title, the Burberry version of the championship that defined his first reign as world champion in All Elite Wrestling.

MJF asserted that he’s absolutely not interested in tradition or making anyone happy backstage, declaring that he is ready to run past the entire locker room in a bid to establish himself as the greatest of all time. The Salt of the Earth was interrupted by Kenny Omega, who wondered what would happen if they battled inside the squared circle again. He said that MJF would see a lot of him until he proves that he is worthy of a shot at the World Championship. This was preceded by Swerve Strickland and Hangman Page coming out and taking down the security officials. They then sent warning messages to MJF before being interrupted by The Opps on the big screen.

MJF won the AEW World Championship for the second time in his career at this past weekend’s Worlds End pay-per-view. He pinned former champ Samoan Joe during the four-way match, also including Swerve Strickland and Hangman Adam Page, to claim the coveted title. This was MJF’s Casino Gauntlet contract match. His first title defense will be against Bandido on Dynamite: Maximum Carnage on January 14, 2026.
