Darby Allin was announced as not cleared to compete due to injury this week on AEW Dynamite, and a new report has some additional details on the matter. As reported, AEW announced on Dynamite that Allin was hospitalized after his match with Kevin Knight on last week’s Dynamite. The bout was part of the Continental Classic. Allin was said to not be medically cleared for travel or in-ring action. An update is scheduled for this week’s AEW Collision.

According to the WON, Allin suffered an injury to his head. The report notes that it was a result of a singular hit and not an accumulation of built-up effects. While it isn’t known specifically which moment caused the injury, it was not from the coast-to-coast dropkick delivered.

As noted on Thursday, Allin was released and able to fly home. AEW is waiting until Collision to give an update to see if he can return soon. Due to the nature of head injuries, there is no set time and he could be good to go by Wednesday. However, it could take much longer.

Allin has only had one match in the Continental Classic, so it will not be a major deal to replace him if need be. It’s not yet clear how that would work with Allin having had the one match already. When Juice Robinson was injured last year, Komander took his spot and lost/won the same matches Robinson was intended to lose/win.

If there is a replacement, the report speculates that any of Komander, The Beast Mortos, Bandido, Sammy Guevara, Ace Austin, Big Bill, Anthony Bowens, Brody King, Toa Liona, Daniel Garcia, Jack Perry, Hook, Hechicero, Josh Alexander, Shelton Benjamin, Will Hobbs, Katsuyori Shibata or Wheeler Yuta could take Allin’s place.
