– The new WWE Studios film The Chaperone starring Triple H will be a family-friendly comedy about an ex-con (Triple H) who ends up chaperoning his estranged daughter’s field trip. Shooting starts in June.

– Viva La Lucha and Masked Republic sent out this release today.

MASKED REPUBLIC SELECTS FREDDY MADBALL’S “Y QUE” AS OFFICIAL THEME SONG FOR DEBUT PAY PER VIEW “VIVA LA LUCHA: REVOLUCION!”

Trailblazing underground music icon joins up with lucha innovators to
usher in the new age of lucha libre in North America and around the world
debuting on Friday, June 11 on cable systems throughout the United States
via iN DEMAND and Avail-TVN in brilliant HD featuring Blue Demon Jr., Hijo
De Rey Misterio, Perro Aguayo Jr., LA PARK (the original La Parka), Sabu,
and over a dozen more stars of the lucha world.

“For years music and pro wrestling have gone hand in hand, yet the lucha
world has yet to truly embrace incorporating music into it’s programming
beyond wrestlers entrance themes,” said Ruben Zamora, Masked Republic
founder. “With one of the goals of our Viva La Lucha pay per view series
being to bring the best aspects of lucha libre into a format which
worldwide viewing audiences can embrace, I knew that finding the right
theme song for “Revolution” was going to be muy importante!”

Enter Kevin Gill. The former soundtrack supervisor at Eidos Interactive
who was responsible for bringing such bands as Rancid, Insane Clown Posse,
Sick Of It All, and Bad Brains to the million plus unit selling Backyard
Wrestling video game franchise and who has spent the last few years honing
his craft at his “side jobs” of pro wrestling referee and commentator was
exactly who Zamora was looking for to take the role of Viva La Lucha music
supervisor. His first task: find a theme song that would speak to both
Hispanic and non-Hispanic audiences alike.

“I was driving to a show with fellow wrestling aficionado Lars Frederiksen
(of Rancid) and I was telling him I needed to find the perfect theme song
for the first Viva La Lucha pay per view spectacular” stated Gill. “As we
were throwing names around of artists that would be perfect, fate
intervened and Lars received a phone call from long time friend Freddy
Madball to discuss Freddy’s new hip hop album ‘Catholic Guilt.’ A light
bulb went off in my head, and that night I listened to the record in it’s
entirety and knew that ‘Y Que’ matched the explosive, unpredictable, and
highly entertaining vibe of a Masked Republic pay per view event!”

Executive Producer of Viva La Lucha, Kevin Kleinrock, immediately agreed
with Gill’s recommendation. “As soon as I heard the song, I knew this was
the perfect theme for the Revolution pay per view. Much like a Spanish
hip hop song is not what one would necessarily expect out of one of the
biggest legends of the New York hardcore punk rock scene, Freddy Madball,
Masked Republic’s pay per view series is going to show wrestling fans that
lucha libre is not just Spanish for ‘pro wrestling,’ but that our
presentation of the lucha world is full of entertainment at every turn.
For two action packed hours viewers are not going to want to turn away
from their TVs.”

Freddy Madball himself had this to say: “I’m very excited and honored
that VLL has chosen the song ‘Y Que’ as their theme song. As a kid I was
a fan of wrestling and lucha libre, it’s cool to be connected to it again
through music. Respect.”

The song, “Y Que,” can be found on Freddy Madball’s debut hip hop album
“Catholic Guilt” available now from Familia Entertainment produced by DJ
STRESS and featuring appearances a number of guest performers including
Rancid, Vinnie Paz of Jedi Mind Tricks and Travis McCoy of Gym Class
Heroes. The album can be purchased in stores or downloaded from
PitchforkNY.com, iTunes and Amazon. The video for “Y Que” can be seen
here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jOnPj8XEgY&feature=player_embedded.
The “Viva La Lucha: Revolution” pay per view will end with a remix video
featuring highlights of the event.
