Nick Khan Reveals Plans for a WWE PLE in Italy Next Year

A WWE premium live event is in the works for next year in Italy. During a chat with SportBusiness at the IMG x RedBird Summit, WWE President Nick Khan revealed that Italy will host a WWE PLE later next year.

Khan said of WWE holding more international PLEs (via Fightful), “Almost half of our Premium Live Events take place outside of the United States now. We believe WWE is a global property, we believe the results on these shows, both in terms of attendance and viewership (locally and globally) have been significant.” He continued, “We have seen year-over-year increases for viewership on each one.”

The WWE PLE event in Italy will coincide with the country joining Netflix’s WWE streaming partnership. WWE has not yet announced when the event take place and in what city or venue the PLE will be held. WWE previously held an international edition of Friday Night SmackDown in Bologna, Italy earlier this year on Friday, March 21 on the road to WrestleMania 41.
