During today’s edition of SiriusXM’s The Nikki and Brie Show, WWE Hall of Famer and Superstar Nikki Bella provided details about passing her recent sports testing and training for her comeback. According to Nikki Bella, she expect to come back better than before. Below are some highlights provided by Sirius XM:
Nikki Bella on Her Sports Testing and Training for Her Comeback
Nikki Bella: “So this though, mom helped me out on the Friday one and then Matteo came with me Saturday, but I didn’t realize it was my sports testing with the surgeons and everyone.”
Brie Bella: “So were they all in the room or Zoom? ”
Nikki Bella: “No, not Zoom, but it’s like, ‘Hey, let’s do her sports testing.”’And then they look at the results. So then Carlo has a protocol and then, but what was important about this testing was, this is where they test strength, ballistic, all the different things to see where I’m at and where I’m at on the healing is safe to start to do quite a bit of activity, but in a safe way so you don’t re-injure the bones or the torn ligaments, but this is where they do a lot of testing to be like ‘Okay, this is where if she does this program and works this hard, she can be, she can make this like be 100% in the ring,’ let’s just say. So I was like, “Oh my gosh, like you have to give it your all.” So I do that Friday and Saturday. So after then when we finished Saturday and Brie, all the testing, I was like, damn, it’s like hitting just maxes on everything, right? And then running, jumping, all the things, side to sides with that. And that was in the strength set. That’s the ballistic stuff, right? But when you’re not, when you’re coming off of Vegas, not prepared for that.”
Brie Bella: “I know. It’s almost like you should have waited a couple of days.”
Nikki Bella: “But that’s when you’re looking at time, when you think weeks and then he looks at me and I was like, ‘What?’ And then he gives me a high five. He goes, ‘You made it.’ But you know, I will say this testing, I feel like anyone who’s coming in, whether it’s out of retirement or someone who hasn’t, let’s just say, been in the ring for a while, I feel like everyone needs to do this testing. Because what’s crazy is you’re on machines and you have computers. And then there’s other type of testing they do just with, you know, just with the PT. But what they’re testing is your age, weight, bone density, with your muscle mass. Everything goes all together and it tells you the exact percentage you’re at before 100 percent.
“So hey, this is your percentage and this is how much you’re off to be the best of you. So there’s no re-injury. So then you could be the best performer. You can be. And I’m like, actually on this comeback, I’m going to come back better than I did because now I’m going to know exactly where I’m at physically. And like now I know where I have to push myself. And it’s crazy because I didn’t have this kind of program. So now just to know that two days a week has to be strictly calf strengthening. But like, I’ve never had that before. So like two days is just only calf strengthening. Three days is all my other strengthening. So quads, glutes, upper body. And then one day is just straight ballistic training. Like it’s the side to sides, running, pushing off, jumping up and down, jump roping, jump high, jump low, step down, one leg jump off this way, like left or right. You know what I mean? That kind of training is really important.”
Nikki Bella suffered an ankle injury last month, forcing her to miss the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title Match at WrestleMania 42. Paige made her WWE return and replaced Nikki in the match, teaming with Nikki’s sister, Brie Bella, to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles.
