With many high-profile retirements recently from WWE’s Ruthless Aggression era, including John Cena and Brock Lesnar, fans have had their questions about Rey Mysterio. Now in his early fifties, Rey still wrestles a high-flying style that might seem to have a shelf life.

In a recent interview with BANG Showbiz, however, Rey revealed he has no plans to step down as of now.

“I’m loving the process right now of enjoying the moments, you know, as they come,” he said. “Before, it was maybe a little bit more stressful because [I was] working constantly, you know, four or five days a week, but now it’s it’s been like, okay, with the GM role on AAA and then wrestling on RAW, I kind of vibe that program. I don’t mind it at all. I enjoy it. I’m still on both sides of the spectrum and I’m learning as I’m growing still, you know. So, it’s really fun. I think I’m just going to wing it and see where this road takes me, you know, because I’m really enjoying the moments right now that I’m that I’m living inside the ring, whether as a wrestler or as a GM.”

As to what kind of physical shape he’s in, Rey says he feels, “eally, really good. Yes. No injuries, knock on wood. Um, you know, the last one I had was my groin, which was two years ago prior to wrestling Chad Gable at WrestleMania [Rey Fenix replaced Mysterio at the last minute]”

“Finally that match came true, you know, about a month ago, which was really cool. I kind of had that on my back carrying it for that long, you know, until it happened. Once it happened, I’m like, ‘Oh, that feels good.’ And I’m glad that we felt we had a great match.”
