Backstage Note On Rey Mysterio’s WWE Future Amid Retirement Speculation

WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio returned to weekly programming recently after being on the sidelines for several months due to injury. Despite being 51, the Master of 619 is still going strong inside the squared circle.

However, with John Cena retiring tonight, AJ Styles confirming that he will step away next year, and speculation about Brock Lesnar and Chris Jericho also joining them in a year or so, fans fear that Rey Mysterio may also follow suit shortly.

One such fan asked Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp about the same in the latest Q&A session. The journalist stated that discussions around Mysterio’s retirement have been fan-driven, and he has yet to hear anything in this regard from sources close to the company.

Sapp revealed that Rey still has plenty of time remaining on his current deal and that WWE is very happy with the legendary luchador from a wrestler and ambassador standpoint.

Rey Mysterio returned to action on the November 17 episode of Monday Night RAW, tagging with Sheamus and John Cena to take on The Judgment Day in what was Cena’s last appearance on WWE’s flagship show. He was brutally attacked by Logan Paul and a masked assailant this past Monday.
