As noted, a new episode of WWE Chronicle on former NXT women’s champion Shayna Baszler is se to debut on the WWE Network on Sunday, May 9. WWE released a new preview clip for the upcoming documentary, where Baszler reveals that she was the one who got Ronda Rousey to start watching wrestling before she later made the transition to become a WWE Superstar herself.

Baszler stated in the clip, “When the four of us: Marina [Shafir], Jessamyn [Duke], me, Ronda [Rousey] were all living in the house, I’m the one who got them all into wrestling. Because I was a big wrestling fan and every Monday — I think it was a Thursday that Smackdown was on? But I had the TV. That was my time. I arranged my training so that I could be home to watch wrestling, and I would just have it on. And by proxy, they all got sucked into the stories or whatever just because it happened to be on and they caught up with it.”

She later added, “I don’t want to take credit and say, ‘I’m the reason Ronda started wrestling.’ It’s nothing like that, but I’m the reason Ronda started wrestling.”

Ronda Rousey would ultimately go on to make her WWE debut as a new WWE Superstar at the 2018 Royal Rumble event before making her in-ring debut later that year at WrestleMania 34. Rousey would then go on to headline WrestleMania 35 in the first all-women main event, where she faced Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch in a Triple Threat Match.
