During a recent interview with iHeartRadio 93.3’s Jason Hall, ahead of AEW Dynasty, AEW President and CEO Tony Khan discussed a variety of topics, including Chris Jericho re-signing with AEW, when Mercedes Mone will return to AEW TV, and more. Below are some highlights:
Tony Khan on Chris Jericho Re-Signing With AEW
“Well, I think Chris always wanted to stay here. He was a free agent, and he had a choice where to go in wrestling, and Chris absolutely wanted to be in AEW, and I’m glad. I wanted Chris to be here. And we always had that date circled that we would be in Winnipeg on April 1, and he wanted to return to wrestling in Winnipeg after being out for a while. Chris had a huge decision to make, and I’m really glad he chose to come back to AEW. He’s a huge part of the company.”
On When Mercedes Mone Will Return to AEW
“I am very excited about Mercedes Moné, she’s a huge part of AEW, and I’m very excited to have her back in AEW, hopefully soon. She’s been traveling the world, she’s wrestled all over. I think she’s hit a rough spot in her wrestling career in terms of her championship aspirations. She held so many championships all over the world. And now, with Mercedes having traveled the world, she won all these championships, and she’s had some setbacks. I still think she’s one of the top wrestlers on the planet, and I’m excited for her to return to AEW in 2026.”
AEW Dynasty 2026, featuring Chris Jericho in action against Ricochet, is set for later tonight at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. It will be broadcast live on pay-per-view.
