Trick Williams Reacts to Sami Zayn Capturing Undisputed WWE Championship at Night of Champions

WWE United States Champion Trick Williams recently reacted to Sami Zayn capturing the Undisputed WWE Championship at Night of Champions 2026.

Trick’s maiden feud on the main roster was against Zayn. His involvement during the US Championship match between then-champion Carmelo Hayes and Zayn led to the Canadian capturing the title on the Road to WrestleMania 42.

Williams went on to dethrone Sami as the US Champion at The Show of Shows and subsequently retained it at Backlash. However, Zayn immediately moved to the main event scene and shockingly pinned Cody Rhodes in a Triple Threat Match at Night of Champions to capture the Undisputed WWE Championship.

During a recent interview with Bleacher Report, Trick Williams heaped praise on Sami Zayn, noting that Zayn going on to win the Undisputed WWE Championship puts into context his victory over the Canadian and how great of an opponent Sami is. He also shared why they clicked in the ring.

Here’s what Trick said:

“That just lets you know how great of an opponent he was and everything he brings to the business. He’s Sami Zayn for a reason, so you gotta put some respect on his name. But it also tells you who Trick Williams is. In his first feud, on his first day on SmackDown, he interrupted Sami Zayn and told him, ‘You will respect Mr. Lemon Pepper Stepper.’ And the people knew that I wasn’t lying. It was just a beautiful situation. Me and Sami are so polar opposites, so it just worked.”

As it turned out, Zayn’s reign proved to be short-lived, as he lost the title to CM Punk on the July 6 episode of Monday Night RAW, finishing his stint at nine days.
