Details On Where Ilja Dragunov Is Expected To Go After WWE Exit

A new report has some details on where people in the industry expect Ilja Dragunov to end up after he exited WWE. As noted, Dragunov is now a free agent as his WWE contract expired, as opposed to being released before it ended. He is free to sign and appear anywhere at any time.

According to Fightful Select, people in AEW have not heard about the former WWE United States Champion coming into the company. Sources within the industry do expect him to go there, but that is not based on any firm facts as of now. That includes at least one promoter in the European scene, where Dragunov came up.

The report adds that several wrestlers reached out to Dragunov during his absence and hadn’t heard anything about his plans or situation at that time, including some talent he trained with. His exit from WWE was surprising to those in wXw, where he was a regular before coming to WWE, and those sources said that they had expected more from him during his time on the main roster.

Several independent talent in Europe hope to be able to face Dragunov if they get a chance, though one source in wXW said they would be surprised to see him return to the independent scene with a rate that would make booking him viable for European promotions. One predicted he could end up back in PROGRESS, now owned by Nikki Storm and Big Damo.

Dragunov has not publicly addressed his WWE exit at this time.
