In a post on his X account, AEW star Will Ospreay reflected on the 10th anniversary of his iconic match with Ricochet at NJPW Best of the Super Juniors XXIII. The match took place ten years ago today.
Their B Block matchup saw Ospreay pick up the victory over Ricochet. Ospreay also went on to win the tournament. He wrote on the classic junior heavyweight matchup, “10 years ago today was the match that changed everything. It’s crazy how quick time has flown by. Seeing where me and Ricochet are now in our careers makes me smile. Grateful to have been part of the ‘flippy ****’ generation.”
Ospreay and Ricochet are both currently signed to AEW, where they’ve since faced each other again in singles action on multiple occasions. Both men were also in action last Sunday at AEW Double or Nothing 2026.
At Double or Nothing, Ospreay defeated Samoa Joe in the quarterfinals of the Owen Hart Foundation 2026 Men’s Tournament. Meanwhile, Ricochet competed in Stadium Stampede. The team of Jack Perry, Jericho, The Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson), and The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin) picked up the victory.
