Mercedes Mone’s 584-day reign as AEW TBS Champion finally came to an end on Dynamite: New Year’s Smash, courtesy of reigning Women’s World Tag Team Champion Willow Nightingale.

In the final stages of the match, Mercedes sent Willow crashing through the commentary table via a Suplex. After both women made it to the ring before the referee counted to 10, the CEO fired off a few elbows on the challenger and then tried to execute the Statement Maker.

However, Willow rolled through and managed to get Mercedes on her shoulders. However, Mone escaped and went for the Statement Maker again, but Willow intercepted it. Mone then went for the jackknife pin, only to eat a Doctor Bomb and get pinned. The victory means that Willow is now the first-ever two-time AEW TBS Champion.

Following her win, Willow Nightingale was joined by Harley Cameron, Orange Cassidy, Speedball Mike Bailey, and Kevin Knight in the ring for victory celebrations. AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander also arrived and hugged Willow to close out the night. It’s a full circle moment for Nightingale, as she was the one whom Mercedes beat at Double or Nothing 2024 to become the TBS Champ.
