411’s ECW on Sci-Fi Report 4.07.09
Welcome to the ECW on Sci-Fi! As always, I am Michael Bauer, your 411 ECW Re-capper.
Matt Striker welcomes us to ECW as Josh Matthews is on commentary tonight!
Teddy Long starts in the ring dancing and he hypes what happened on WrestleMania and he says changes are coming that will effect the WWE. Like, Vickie being the GM of Raw for now on. Teddy Long gets to be General Manager of Smackdown again and the new Interim General Manager of ECW is Tiffany! She looks hotter as a professional woman, believe it or not. They shake hands and Tiffany gets interrupted real quickly by the ECW Champion, Jack Swagger. Jack has a microphone and proceeds to congratulate Tiffany and tells her that Jack Swagger has a different set of rules for when it comes to dealing with him. But of course, she only cares about giving us what we want. Tiffany then says that since the draft is this Monday and that we might not be on ECW. She then announces an elimination chase with the winner facing Jack Swagger for the ECW Title at Backlash. So tonight we have a Fatal Four Way between Mark Henry, Finlay, Tommy Dreamer, and Christian. Good luck picking a loser out of those four.
Before the commercial, it is the WrestleMania clips video, complete with all the sick spots.
We get a video of all of John Cena’s media appearances… holy crap that’s a ton of shows and stops.
Tyson Kidd, The Miz, and John Morrison vs. Evan Bourne, Carlito, and Primo Colon
The bell rings and Carlito locks up Miz and Miz backs him into the corner. Miz fires away with right hands and whips Carlito, but he leaps of the second rope and hits an elbow. Primo tagged in and gets whipped into the corner, but he does a head stand in the corner. Primo connects with a headscissors and tags in Carlito. Miz gets whipped, Primo leaps and Carlito hits a dropkick. Miz escapes from Carlito and Tyson Kidd gets tagged in. Tyson gains the advantage on Carlito long enough to take in Morrison, who chokes Carlito with his boot and then kicks Carlito upside the head with a running boot for a two count. Morrison locks in a neck wrench. Carlito escapes, but he gets stopped from making a tag and is backed into the corner. Miz tagged in and a double gutbuster gets two. Tyson Kidd tagged in and he hits a series of elbows before bringing in Morrison. Morrison stomps away, but Carlito escapes from a suplex, hits and elbow, and tag in Bourne. Bourne gets whipped in the ropes, but he boots Morrison and connects with a head scissors to the floor! Bourne slips into the ring, avoiding Tyson Kidd and The Miz, as we go to a commercial at 5:10.
We return at 8:35 and Morrison has Bourne in a chin lock, but Bourne slips out, but Morrison catches a head scissors attempt and throws him into the corner. Tyson Kidd tagged in and he gets a quick two count. Tyson goes for the submission, but Bourne escapes just to get hit with a snapmare and kicked hard in the back. Miz gets tagged in and targets the back with a knee before going back to the submission. Bourne gets to his feet and dragged down by the hair. Miz mounts and punches away before thinking about a tag, but staying in. Miz locks in some sort of Crab submission, but Bourne is up again. Miz stacks up Bourne and gets a two count, then drags him to the corner and tags in Tyson Kidd. Kidd gets another quick two count. Tyson tags in Miz and Miz hits a legdrop for two. Miz washes his foot on Bourne’s head and tags in Morrison. Bourne somehow counters the spring in elbow, taking out Miz and Morrison. Primo and Tyson Kidd tagged in and Primo goes to work. Tyson reverses a whip but eats a reverse elbow, followed by a clothesline for two and Miz broke up the pin. Miz gets dumped by Carlito, Carlito dumped by Morrison, and Primo dumps Morrison. Primo avoids Tyson Kidd coming in with the springboard elbow drop and hits the Backstabber! Evan Bourne tagged in and he heads up top… Shooting Star Press! Bourne gets the pin and the three count at 14:40!
Winners: Evan Bourne and The Colons
Match Rating: *** That was an outstanding six man tag match, but eventually you would think Miz and Morrison could get something on the Colons, unless they are splitting the team.
We get a Raw Rebound with the Randy Orton/McMahon continued saga leading into Backlash.
After the commercial, we get a video package for the WWE Hall of Fame from Saturday Night. We then go to Matt Striker making fun of Josh’s tie and we have the WrestleMania video for the second time tonight. Seriously, do we need this twice in one night?
Fatal Four Way: Mark Henry (with Tony Atlas) vs. Finlay (with Hornswoggle) vs. Tommy Dreamer vs. Christian
Christian has a nice shiner on his left eye… a wound of WrestleMania as Matt Striker calls it. The bell rings as Dreamer locks up with Christian as Finlay gets dumped by Mark Henry. Christian punches away on Mark Henry, but he gets shoved off. Finlay tries next, but gets headbutted. Dreamer comes off the second rope, but runs into a shoulder block from Henry. Christian charges, but gets flapjacked by Henry. Henry screams like an animal and we go to a commercial at 1:00.
Back at 5:20 and Mark Henry is standing on Tommy Dreamer. Christian and Finlay both start pounding away and Dreamer joins in for a Triple Suplex! The follow up with a triple baseball slide to send him to the outside. Henry gets thrown into the steel steps and Finlay goes after Dreamer. Back inside the ring, Finlay gets the rolling fireman’s carry for a two count. Dreamer backs Finlay into the corner and puts him up top, but he gets shoved off. Christian follows him up and gets caught by Dreamer. Finlay flies off for a clothesline, but Christian rolls up Dreamer with a victory roll for two. Finlay hits a huge European uppercut for a two count on Christian. Christian whipped into the corner, but he leaps over into a Celtic Cross attempt, but Christian gets a crucifix for a two count. Christian thrown to the outside and Dreamer comes from behind and puts Finlay in the Tree of Woe. Basement Dropkick connects and Mark Henry comes out of nowhere with a huge bear splash. Christian gets a missile dropkick on Henry and gets a quick two count on Henry, then Dreamer. Dreamer throws Christian into the corner and Henry charges, but Dreamer moves and Christian gets squashed. Henry grabs Dreamer for the World Strongest Slam, but Finlay has the shillelagh as Tony Atlas and the ref argue. Henry gets cracked over the head and Finlay makes the cover at 9:00, eliminating Mark Henry from the chase!
Winner: Finlay
Eliminated from the Chase: Mark Henry
Match Rating: *3/4 It was okay, but definitely could have used more time that was wasted on those promo videos.
