Tremendous Tirades Throwback: Summerslam 2004

Summerslam 2004 comes to you from Toronto Canada, and our announcers this evening will be from Raw Jim “Good old JR” Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler. For Smackdown we have Michael Cole and Tazz. For our Hispanic friends, Hugo and Carlos!

We open with the funny Summerslam commercials all merged into a giant one. Then we get a video rundown of the card.

Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler welcome us to the 17th Summerslam with a sell out crowd of 17,640. Hugo and Carlos but out the welcomes in Spanish, and Cole and Tazz welcome us.

Match #1 The Dudley Boys vs. Rey Mysterio, Billy Kidman and Paul London

Kidman and D-von to start. Lock up and Kidman fires away on D-von. D-von takes him to the corner, but Kidman gets a head scissors followed by a deep arm drag then a drop kick for 2. Tag to London, and they double elbow D-von and get a 2 count. Elbow to D-von, London up top, and a drop kick gets 2. London off the ropes and Bubba pulls him down. D-von is in control, covers for 2. Tag to Spike, and he drops the double foot stomp on London and then double team London. Spike tosses London to the corner, and stomps away on London. Tag to Bubba, suplex to London, then an elbow drop. Tag to D-von, snap mare and a headlock to London. London tries to fight to his feet, but D-von gets a power slam for 2 as Kidman makes the save. Tag to Bubba, and he kicks away at London. London kicks back at Bubba, off the ropes and D-von cheap shots him. Bubba misses D-von and knocks D-von to the floor. Enziguri to Bubba and London crawls. Tag to Spike and to Rey! Flap jack to Spike. Springboard leg drop gets 2 for Rey. Spike to the corner, and again. Spike set on the top…RANA OFF THE TOP gets 2! Rey tries a head scissors but Rey takes Bubba down. Spike off the ropes, but a head butt to Rey. Kidman is with a flying elbow! Takes down D-von. BK BOMB to Spike for 2. London in now, as all 6 brawl. D-von to the floor. Double drop kick to Bubba! PLANCHA TO THE FLOOR BY LONDON! HEART ATTACK by Rey and Kidman! 619 to Spike! Kidman up top…SSP! D-von pulls Kidman out before the 3. Rey dives and misses D-von. London in taken down. Kidman in…3-D to Kidman, and Spike covers for the win.

Up to JR and the King. They hype the Hardy vs. Kane match.

Match #2 Matt Hardy vs. Kane (Till Death do us Part)

Matt attacks Kane to start. Clothesline, then a boot to Kane. Clothesline and Matt gets 2. Matt punches away but Kane sets him on the top. Tornado DDT gets 2 for Matt. Kane punches back, Matt off the ropes, and Kane takes him down and chokes him out. Kane punches away, and chokes out Matt with his boot. Matt with a cross body to the floor, and a Twist of Fate to Kane on the floor! The ref counts, and Kane sits up and gets in at 9. Lita gets the ring bell, and calls for Matt. Matt gets it and NAILS Kane! Cover and he gets 2. Matt to the top…but Kane catches him on the way down in a choke, but he Matt fights out. Boot by Kane, and Kane goes up top…Matt crotches him. He climbs up, but Kane grabs him…CHOKE SLAM form the top! That is all!

Kane smiles as Lita walks away. She turns around and then runs from Kane.

Todd Grisham in the back with Randy Orton. He says tonight is the night for celebration. He is the most talented, charismatic and the greatest superstar will win. John Cena is here. He says he will open up on Booker T tonight. Cena thanks him for introducing him. Cena says he is a fan, he asks if they like Randy, and the crowd boos. He asks if Orton will win, and they boo again. Cena laughs and walks away. He doesn’t care about Cena or the fans, and says Cena is pathetic. He is the most important thing tonight is that he will be the youngest WWE champ ever!

Match #3 Booker T © vs. John Cena (1st of the Best of 5)

They talk smack to start, and then duke it out. Clothesline by Cena for 2. More talk, lock up and Cena gets a hammerlock, but Booker fights out and chops away at Cena. Slam by Cena, then a rolling neck breaker for 2. Booker crotches Cena on the top rope, and Cena knocked to the floor. Double ax handle to Cena, and Booker tosses him back in. Kick to Cena, and Booker then nails a knee drop to Cena. Mount and punches by Booker, and he plays to the crowd. Forearms by Booker, but Cena fights back but Booker gets a leg lariat and locks in a Camel Clutch on Cena. Cena picks him up and rams him to the corner. Cena off the ropes, and Booker gets a spine buster. Side slam by Booker, then he locks in a rear choke. Cena fights out and gets a small package for 2. Clothesline by Booker, then MISSES the ax kick. Both men are down, and fight back to their feet. Cena punches back, boot to Booker and a clothesline takes him down. Cena off the ropes, flapjack to Cena. SPINAROONIE! Cena snatches him up, F U finishes off Booker T!

Winner: John Cena @ 6:25 *

Teddy Long in the back, and Eric Bishoff comes in. He wants to wish Long luck in his new position. Bishoff says every time there is a joint PPV, there is a new SD GM. He wants to give him advice. Enjoy the job, because by the next joint PPV, there will be someone else in Long’s job. Bishoff says, nothing personal, just reality. Long says if Eugene leaves Raw, he will take him right away, as well as any other super star that wants to leave.

Match #4 Batista vs. Chris Jericho vs. Edge ©

Batista jumps Edge and takes him to the floor as Jericho watches. Jericho all over Batista now, and the crowd is VERY behind Jericho. Elbow by Batista, and he rams Jericho in the corner now. Shoulder block to Jericho and Batista poses. Jericho fights back, tries a cross body, but Batista catches him and power slams Jericho down. Batista tries a Batista bomb, but Edge is back in and chop blocks Batista. He works over Batista, then flies off of the ropes and Batista gets a boot to the gut of Edge. Batista tries a clothesline, but Jericho pulls him out to the floor. Batista and Jericho are down on the floor, and the crowd boo’s Edge. Edge rams Batista to the steel steps, then a drop kick by Jericho to Batista. Edge and Jericho face off in the ring, and Jericho punches away. Takes Edge to the corner, and now Edge fights back. Edge takes him down, and they continue to boo Edge. Jericho fights back up and tries the Walls, but Edge rolls him up for 2. Cross body by Jericho for 2. Eye poke by Jericho, and he locks in the Walls! Edge tries to fight out, but Jericho pulls him back center ring. Batista in kills Jericho with a clothesline. Jericho shoulder first to the steel post and to the floor. Batista goes after Edge, but eats a Tornado DDT for 2. Edge sets for the spear…but Jericho levels him with a clothesline! Edge to the floor, spine buster to Jericho, but Edge stops the count. Edge with a kick on Batista, roll up with the tights gets 2. Batista misses a clothesline and flies to the floor. Jericho is back in and rolls up Edge for 2. Crowd VERY behind Jericho. Bulldog to Edge. Spring board drop kick to Batista. Jericho gets up, and SPEAR by Edge and that is all.

Match #5 Eddie Guerrero vs. Kurt Angle w/Luther

Here we go. Lock up, and Kurt gets a double leg take down. They fight back to their feet, and Eddie gets a take down of his own. They fight to the corner, and they get a clean break. Lock up, and Eddie tries for the ankle, and Kurt reverses it. Come nice mat stuff here. Eddie with a headlock take down. Kurt up to his feet, more reversals, and Kurt gets an arm lock takedown. Eddie back up, reverses Kurt, and gets a hammerlock of his own. German suplex by Kurt, tries another and Eddie gets an ankle lock! Center ring, and Kurt tries to escape. Kurt gets a thumb to the eye to escape. Angle Slam to Eddie! Straps are down…Ankle lock! Eddie tries to find an escape, and now Eddie gets an ankle lock, they have one on each other! Now Kurt gets it back, and stands up. Eddie gets the ropes, and Luther nails Eddie. Ankle lock again by Kurt, and Eddie fights for all he is worth to escape. Eddie gets the ropes again. Kurt now rams Eddie’s ankle off of the steel post, back in the ring and Eddie chops away, but Kurt takes him back down. STF by Kurt, Kurt lets go and elbows to the knee of Eddie now. Eddie gets a cross arm breaker, but Kurt escapes. Punches now, and Kurt takes down Eddie with a drop toehold, into a knee lock and is unlacing Eddie’s boot. Rear-choke by Kurt now, Eddie up and gets a chin crusher. Angle Slam by Eddie! Both men are down, and now fight to their feet. They duke it out, and Eddie fights back with fire. Kurt is down, suplex by Eddie, another…TRIFECTA! Eddie is feeling it, and goes up top. Kurt runs up the ropes and gets a SICK RELEASE SUPLEX for 2! Kurt set, tries an Angle Slam, but Eddie gets a DDT! Eddie goes up top…MISSES the frog splash! Angle Slam only gets 2! Kurt stalks Eddie, and rips of Eddie’s boot. ANKLE LOCK on the exposed Ankle. Eddie pulls the ref into the corner, and he is down. Eddie has the boot and NAILS Kurt! Eddie drops to the mat and plays possum. The ref counts and Eddie gets up. Up to the top rope…FROG SPLASH…KICK OUT! Kurt snatches up the ankle lock again! He drops down, grapevines the leg and Eddie taps out!

Match #6 HHH vs. Eugene

They duke it out to start, and HHH takes Eugene down. HHH stomps away in the corner, then punches away some more. Elbow by Eugene, backdrop to HHH and Eugene is mad. HHH to the floor, and a double ax handle to HHH by Eugene. HHH grabs Lillian to shield himself and throws her down! The bastard! Eugene tries to help and HHH takes him down with some hard shots. Back in the ring, and HHH stomps away at Eugene in the corner. Lillian is being helped to the back as HHH clears off the S.A.T. HHH tries a suplex to the outside… Eugene fights it off and suplex’s HHH back in the ring. Corner mount by Eugene, gets 8 punches, counts on his hand, and gives 2 more. HHH off the ropes, and he falls and holds his knee. The ref checks on HHH, and Eugene is stupid and worried. Eugene looks around and HHH clotheslines him down. SWERVE! Eugene is on the floor, and HHH follows. He rolls him back in, and a back breaker by HHH. Another back breaker, and HHH yells at the fans. HHH picks up Eugene, and Eugene gets some head butts to HHH and takes him down as the Toronto crowd turns on Eugene. Eugene stomps away in the corner at HHH who begs off. HHH wants to shake, and Eugene grabs him…ROCK BOTTOM! He goes for the People’s Elbow, but HHH up and nails a spine buster. HHH stomps on Eugene, and now chokes away at him. Eugene to the floor and HHH follows. Eugene rammed hard to the steel steps. Eugene shoulder is cut. Eugene is rolled back in the ring, and HHH just punches away at him. Another choke by HHH, and the ref tells him to stop. HHH punches Eugene down, and Eugene tries to fight back to his feet. More punches form HHH and locks in a sleeper. Eugene tries to fight out, but quickly fades. The arm drops 2 times, but Eugene waves the finger and prepares to Eugene up. Eugene fights back, but HH gets a knee, but Eugene counters the Pedigree. Crowd is HATING Eugene. Eugene rammed to the corner, and shakes it off. Again, and he is mad. Eugene punches back at HHH and takes him down. Discus-punch then a clothesline to HHH. STUNNER to HHH! HHH to the floor, and Eugene follows. He rams HHH to the steps. Back in the ring, and here comes FLAIR! Eugene and HHH punch away again, and a Big boot by Eugene! He Hulks up and a Leg drop to HHH and he kicks out. Flair is knocked off the apron by Eugene. Eugene up top…boot by HHH…Pedigree is blocked…PEDIGREE BY EUGENE! Flair places HHH’s foot on the ropes. Flair is sent to the back by the ref. Regal is out…he has knux, LEVELS FLAIR! Eugene is happy, but HHH is up…PEDIGREE finishes him.

JR says HHH is lucky to win, and Lawler says he is wrong.

Match #7 Diva Dodge Ball

Coach is ready, and he brings out the ladies. He announces the Diva’s names. They have cute outfits I will give them that. Next the WWE Diva’s. They have some cute outfits as well. Coach tells them how to play.

Coach says the want a be Diva’s were talking smack. Here we go.

Jazz is out, now Victoria is as well. Stacy is out. Molly and Joy are out. All of the suddenly it is over with the search chicks winning. Trish complains, and thankfully it is over.

Trish and Victoria fight now, and are separated.

Match #8 The Undertaker vs. JBL © w/Orlando Jordan

Lock up and Undertaker tosses him off. JBL to the floor, and Undertaker follows. They duke it out, and JBL has his arm rammed off the steps. Arm wringer by Undertaker, and he works the arm. Old School time, but JBL stops him. Neck breaker by JBL, and an arm wringer by JBL. Undertaker fights back, but JBL gets a side slam for 2. JBL up top…shoulder block to Undertaker for 2. Punches now by JBL, and he beats Undertaker down in the corner. Undertaker to the corner, but Undertaker gets an arm lock. JBL gets the ropes, and Undertaker goes after the arm again. Old School again…nails it. Flat liner by Undertaker for 2. Undertaker with a triangle choke now, OJ pulls JBL’s leg under the ropes, and Undertaker has to break the hold. Boot to Undertaker but Undertaker fires back with one of his own. Undertaker knocks OJ to the floor, and JBL chop blocks the knee of Undertaker. JBL wraps the leg of Undertaker around the steel post, and again. JBL gets a chair, and CRUSHES the leg as OJ had the ref distracted. JBL rams the leg around the post again, but Undertaker kicks away. They are on the floor now, and JBL head first to the steps. Undertaker climbs back in, but JBL sweeps his leg out and Undertaker hits the steps hard. OJ rolls Undertaker back in the ring, and JBL gets a knee breaker to the knee of the Undertaker. Single leg lock by JBL, and Undertaker tries to punch out of it. Undertaker rolls and gets a leg lock as the crowd does the wave. Single leg crab by Undertaker and JBL gets the ropes. Undertaker kicks away at JBL, rolls through and Undertaker gets a rolling knee bar. JBL punches out. The crowd hates this. Undertaker punches away now, JBL fights back and the Undertaker no sells him. JBL to the floor, and Undertaker follows. Rammed to the table is JBL, and then tossed back in. JBL lays on the apron, and Undertaker elbows away at him. Undertaker on the apron…leg drop to JBL as Toronto chants “Spanish Table!” Undertaker back in the ring, as OJ helps JBL. Stunner off the ropes by JBL and Undertaker is down. JBL up top now… Undertaker knocks him down and JBL is crotched on the top. Undertaker up top…super-plex for 2! Undertaker is up, and signals for the end. Picks JBL up…Last ride? JBL snags the knee and he goes to work with elbows on it. Spinning toe hold by JBL but the Undertaker chokes him, but JBL kicks him off. JBL off the rope, spine buster by Undertaker and that gets 2. They duke it out again, and JBL is down. Undertaker off the ropes and gets the leaping clothesline and grabs at his knee. Undertaker up, and a corner clothesline by Undertaker. Another and picks JBL up and gets the snake eyes, then a clothesline to JBL for 2! Undertaker sets for the choke slam…NAILS IT! JBL KICKS OUT! Undertaker picks him up for the Tombstone, OJ gets knocked down trying to help and JBL gets the CLOTHESLINE FROM HELL and Undertaker kicks out! JBL punches away at Undertaker but Undertaker throws him to the corner and a ref bump. Double big boot and both men are down. OJ has the belt, and JBL has it and WAFFLES the Undertaker. He covers and OJ pulls the ref over, he counts for the ref with his hand and Undertaker kicks out! OJ sets to get Undertaker, but Undertaker fights him off but JBL gets another clothesline form hell! JBL with a corner mount, and punches away… Undertaker has him…LAST RIDE! Ref is down still, he is awake, counts and only 2! Undertaker picks JBL up again for a tombstone, OJ in and a boot to OJ. Undertaker has the belt and NAILS JBL and the ref saw it and that is it.

Undertaker and JBL brawl on the floor, and go towards the limo. Slam to JBL on his Limo, and JBL is busted open. Undertaker walks away, and then changes his mind. The straps are down. Undertaker climbs on the limo…picks up JBL and they go to the top of the limo…CHOKE SLAM and JBL goes through the roof!

Trainers check on JBL as he is bloody. They put a neck collar on him, and put him on a stretcher as the crowd chants “Hey hey…goodbye.” OJ grabs the belt off of the floor and lays it on JBL.

Match #9 Randy Orton vs. Chris Benoit ©

Here we go with our Main Event.

Lock up, and they push off. Again, more of the same. Lock up, and Benoit takes Orton to the corner and breaks clean. “You screwed Bret” chants for out ref Earl Hebner. Hammerlock by Orton, and then a reversal by Benoit and takes Orton down. Back up to their feet, and Orton takes Benoit to the corner and breaks clean. Test of strength now, and Orton with the advantage but Benoit bridges up and gets a wristlock into an arm bar. Orton powers out, and misses a knee drop. Benoit back with a wristlock, and Orton tries to get to his feet. Orton with a forearm shot to escape, but Benoit gets an arm drag and now a hammerlock to Orton. Benoit off the ropes, and misses a drop kick and Benoit tries a sharp shooter but Orton escapes a gets one of his own! They are center ring, but Benoit reverses it and gets a sharp shooter! Benoit breaks it off and locks in a cross face! Orton to the floor, and he rams Benoit into the steel post. Orton rams Benoit again into the steel post, and tries to work the arm. Chops by Benoit and they slide back in the ring. Hammerlock by Orton, and really pulls back on Benoit’s elbow. Half nelson now, and Benoit tries to escape. Punches to Orton, and chops now. Boot by Orton, and a suplex lays Benoit over the ropes. Punches to Benoit now, and tries a suplex. Benoit fights back, and they are both on the apron now and a DDT on the apron by Benoit. Orton rolled back in, and Benoit covers and gets 2. Orton thrown to the floor, and Benoit charges with a suicide dive and misses Orton and EATS THE BARRIER! Orton tries to pick up Benoit and Benoit pushes him away. Orton rolls him back in and covers for 2. Neck breaker by Orton, and a modified Camel Clutch by Orton. Benoit tires to fight out, and gets to his feet. European upper cut to Benoit. Gut wrench into a back breaker by Orton, then into the neck breaker for 2. Headlock by Orton now, and he really puts the pressure on. Benoit fights to his feet, and chops away at Orton. Off the ropes and both men try a cross body and collide in mid-air! The ref counts as they fight to their feet. Benoit punches away at Orton, then Orton fights back with forearms. Benoit knocks Orton down, and then a back drop to Orton. NORTHERNLIGHTS SUPLEX for 2 by Benoit! Chops by Benoit, and sets Orton on the top rope. Orton shoves him off, and Orton flies with a cross body for 2! Orton is stalking Benoit now…tries the RKO and Benoit shoves him off and clotheslines him down. Release German suplex to Orton. Sharp Shooter by Benoit! Orton fights for the ropes, but is fading quickly. The ref checks his arm and Orton is awake and gets the ropes. Benoit on the attack, German suplex, again and a 3rd! Benoit tries a 4th, and gets it, 5! A 6th and both men are down! Benoit gets to his feet and it is cut throat time! Benoit up top…EATS ORTON’S BOOT! They are down again, and Orton is up. He covers Benoit gets 2, then Benoit gets a cross face out of nowhere! Orton fights, and rolls out of it. Benoit pounds away on Orton…off the ropes…RKO! THAT IS ALL!

Winner and NEW CHAMPION Randy Orton @ 20:09 ****

Chris Benoit was leaving, and came back to the ring. He and Randy stare at each other, and Orton holds the belt. Benoit extends his hand, and tells Orton to be a man. They shake and Benoit leaves Randy alone to celebrate.
