Anthony Hamilton Talks About His Quick Win At UFC 201
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Anthony Hamilton (15-5 MMA, 3-3 UFC) spoke about his fourteen-second win over Damian Grabowski (20-4 MMA, 0-2 UFC) at UFC 201. Here are highlights:
On his approach to the fight: “I know Damian is a very tough opponent, he’s very experienced. I was expecting kind of a battle, actually. But I’ve been working hard with my trainers in Albuquerque, (N.M.) and Seattle, Wash., where I’m from. Tonight, Greg Jackson and my other corners said, ‘Just let your hands go and have fun.’ That’s exactly what I was trying to do and it worked out great.”
On when he knew he won: “I had a nice, clean uppercut. We kind of threw a couple of punches. I don’t know if I clipped him or not, but I had an uppercut that landed real clean and I felt him kind of wobble and go backwards. I was just following up and trying to finish the fight.”
On his future plans: “I don’t care. I’ll leave it up to (UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva and the rest of the UFC to make that decision. I just need to get home to my family. I miss those guys and want to spend some time with them. I haven’t been home in a while, so I need to get back to them.”
