Joel McHale was asked about the sexual misconduct claims against Aziz Ansari and gave a defense of the comedian. TMZ caught up with McHale, as they tend to do, and asked him about the allegations made after the Golden Globes that Ansari took advantage of a woman and kept trying to have sex with her at the end of a date despite her trying to dissuade him. She said that Ansari did stop eventually, and Ansari acknowledged her claims, saying, it was “completely consensual” by all indications and that “everything [seemed] okay to me” before she contacted him the next day.

When asked about the allegation, McHale referenced Ashleigh Banfield’s description of the situation as a “bad date,” noting, “the problem is, people will read just the name and just the accusation, and they don’t find out anything more than that. So that’s the problem, but it sounds like it was consensual.”

He added, “The #MeToo movement is tremendous and awesome, and needs to happen and continue forever, but if someone had a bad date then it was a bad date.”
