Ashlee Evans-Smith Wants To Forget Recent Losses Before UFC 223
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Ashley Evans-Smith (5-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC) spoke about her recent loss to Sarah Moras back in September. She will have a flyweight bout with Bec Rawlings (7-7 MMA, 2-4 UFC) on the UFC 223 preliminary card tonight. It airs on FS1 after UFC Fight Pass prelims and tonight’s PPV main card from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Here are highlights:
On her loss to Sarah Moras: “I felt like I deserved a win; I trained so hard. (Moras) was coming off a long layoff, and I had analyzed her and critiqued her, and I just thought I was just a more well-rounded and a better fighter, and unfortunately I got submitted.”
On how she reacted: “It was just crappy altogether. You don’t get your win bonus and all that. Your stock goes down as a fighter. And people are like, ‘Oh, she’s on a losing streak now.’”
On hearing that Moras talked trash: “I didn’t realize I guess she also said some like controversial, mean-type things afterward – like she wanted to break my arm or something like that. Man, what did I do to you besides, like, come to work.”
