Louis Smolka Discusses Getting Back on Track Outside of the UFC
MMAjunkie Radio recently interviewed MMA fighter Louis Smolka, who recently picked up his first win in two years in Gladiator Challenge. Below are some highlights from the interview.
Louis Smolka on how he was feeling before the win: “I was just kind of wondering if I wanted to do this anymore, if I could still win. Like, what if I go out there and this guy knocks me out?”
Louis Smolka on how the game is 90 percent mental: “This game is 90 percent mental. Everything is just kind of whatever is happening on that given day, how you feel. I don’t know. I’d do my best to just bite down on the mouthpiece and go – just go out there and go. That’s normally what I do, and it just didn’t show a bunch of times.”
Smolka on how it feels to get another win: “It feels great. It gets rid of a lot of doubts. For a while, I was kind of spiraling, and I was like, ‘What’s wrong with you? Why can’t I win anymore? Why do I suck now? What changed? Like, I’m not doing anything differently.’ So to kind of be done with that just feels great.”
Smolka on being in his own head: “Before this past fight, I was kind of in my own head. I didn’t really know what I was doing. I feel good now. Just getting another win seems really attainable and get back to the UFC and start making some money.”
