The Ultimate Fighter 27: Episode EIGHT
INTRODUCTION: Season 27 of the Ultimate Fighter is here. This season will feature undefeated featherweights and lightweights, with current UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic against current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier serving as the coaches ahead of their upcoming fight. There will be a lightweight and a featherweight winner. Last week, Allan Zuniga defeated Richie Smullen via medical DQ. This week, it’s Dulani Perry (4-0) vs. Tyler Diamond (9-0).

– Richie Smullen returns to the house, and was basically diagnosed with over training, as his muscles shut down on him last week. He was scared as it happened. Allan Zuniga is still upset he didn’t get to fight, but tells Smullen maybe they will fight in the UFC one day.

– Diamond talks about today’s fight and doesn’t seem worried about Perry at all, knows he’s favored, and plans to deliver. We see footage of him wrecking fools before coming into the house. Cormier is confident in Diamond’s abilities, and Diamond plans to end Perry, beating him down and busting him up.

– We see Perry training and talking about how skilled he is and that no one is on his level or looks as good as he does when he fights. He admits he’s an entertainer, and says it’s about being a winner and not a great fighter. Um…. Ok. Perry says he’s looking for a quick finish.

– Diamond now discusses he feels like a man among boy seven though he’s not the oldest in the house. He trains at Ultimate Fitness with Tam Alpha Male. This leads to some home video and Diamond is a full time fighter. He loves his brother, they hunt together and Diamond admits that he schedules his fights around hunting season. His girlfriend is supportive, and also a smoke show. Diamond plans to put a ring on it soon (his words).

– Losers Jay Cucciniello, Jose Martinez Jr, & Kyler Phillips are all angling to get back into the competition due to the Team Cormier members that have been medically eliminated. We see Dulani Perry working on his image, which he feels is more important than anything. He is wearing a Rolex and a lot of Versace. Perry fights out of Houston, TX and says he trains 6-hours a day. He claims to have more money than most pro fighters as his video shows off his diamonds and gold chains. He’s a completely unlikeable person, and needs to be a pro wrestling heel.

– Mokhtarian gets some fake gold chains and other things to wear to Perry’s weigh-in. He even has drawn in fake tattoos. Perry appreciates the support.

WEIGH-INS: Perry (145.5), Diamond (145.5).

FEATHERWEIGHT BOUT: Dulani Perry (4-0) vs. Tyler Diamond (9-0) ROUND ONE: Diamond was team Cormier’s first pick and looked at as a standout, while most think Perry talks too much and is here for fame. Diamond is more experienced, but Perry is 3-inches taller and will enjoy a 7.5-inch reach advantage. Perry throws a bunch of fancy shit early, and Diamond takes him down. Perry works solid ground defense as Diamond works from guard. Diamond transitions to half guard, and then continues landing solid strikes from the top. Diamond has been controlling for half the round now, he’s dominating but nowhere close to a finish. Just as I say that, Diamond starts landing harder strikes and elbows. Final minute and it’s all Diamond, now landing knee strikes to the ribs and transitioning to side control. Perry is cut open as the Tyler Diamond ass whipping tour continues and the round ends. SCORECARD: Diamond 10-8. (Complete domination by Diamond)

ROUND TWO: Diamond drops Perry as he shoots in and we’re back to the ground with Diamond on top. Diamond starts dropping elbows from half guard, mixes in knees and transitions to side control. Diamond locks on a guillotine and Perry taps immediately. OFFICIAL RESULT: Tyler Diamond via RD2 submission

– Just like his persona, Perry’s fight style is all talk and flash as he got fucking dominated here. Perry says he’s never been cut before and it freaked him out. He admits that Diamond made him feel as if he knew nothing.

– Suman Mokhtarian gets checked by the doctor, he wants to be cleared and get back into the competition. But it turns out hat he’s suffered a torn ACL; he’s out and completely devastated.

– Dana meets with Miocic & Cormier. They need to bring two guys back due to injuries. Cormier says Miocic has done a hell of a job of losing his way into the semifinals. Cormier isn’t happy. Miocic is bringing back John Gunther & Jay Cucciniello

– The semifinal fights are:

* Mike Trizano (6-0, 1-0 TUF) vs. John Gunther (6-0, 0-1 TUF)
* Brad Katona (6-0, 1-0 TUF) vs. Bryce Mitchell (9-0, 1-0 TUF)
