Kelsey Grammer Looking To Revive Frasier
Deadline reports that Kelsey Grammer is shopping around a possible revival of the hit sitcom Frasier, which he starred in and executive produced. However this is intended as more of a reboot, set in a new city with Grammer as the link to the original show. Grammer is meeting with writers who are pitching differet ideas. If the producers decide on a writer and story, it could enter production.
Frasier was created by David Angell, Peter Casey, and David Lee. It was produced by Grammnet Productions and CBS TV Studios’ predecessor Paramount Network Television. It ran from 1993 to 2004 on NBC for eleven seasons and also starred David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, Peri Gilpin, and John Mahoney. At the time, it had the record for the most Emmy Awards for a scripted series with 37, including five Emmys in a row for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Frasier Crane was introduced in Cheers, set in Boston, before moving to his own show in his hometown of Seattle. At the end of the series, Frasier made the decision to leave Seattle and travel to Chicago to follow a woman he’s in love with. It’s unknown if the new series would be set there or somewhere else.
