Cats Dominates Razzies With Six ‘Wins’
Cats was the big “winner” at the 40th Golden Raspberry Awards, taking home six Razzies to dominate the competition. The Tom Hooper-directed film based on the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical was far and away the biggest winner, being named Worst Picture, Worst Supporting Actress (Rebel Wilson), Worst Supporting Actor (James Corden), Worst Screen Combo (Any Two Half-Feline/Half-Human Hairballs), Worst Screenplay (Lee Hall & Tom Hooper), and Worst Director (Tom Hooper).
The film was only one of two to win more than one award this year. The other one was Rambo: Last Blood which won Worst Reckless Disregard for Human Life and Public Property and the very competitive category of Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel. The ones who had to settle with just being nominated for that award were Dark Phoenix, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Hellboy, and A Madea Family Funeral.
Judi Dench was actually looking forward to potentially winning Worst Supporting Actress, saying earlier this month, “Oh, am I [nominated]? That would be good! As far as I know, that’s a first!“
If you haven’t seen the film — well, you’re not alone, as the movie bombed in theaters. But the film released just today on Digital HD, so if you have any money that you literally have no other use for, you can see what all the fuss was about.
