Two More Game of Thrones Animated Shows in Development at HBO Max
HBO Max already had one animated spinoff of Game of Thrones in the works, and now a report says two more are on the way. According to THR, the WarnerMedia streaming service is now in development on at least three animated projects spinning off from HBO’s iconic fantasy series. Details are available on one of the three, which will be set in the Imperial China-inspired Golden Empire of Yi Ti which was never seen in the series but was briefly referenced in a book seen in season seven.
The Golden Empire of Yi Ti is on the continent of Essos and is considered to be one of the oldest and most advanced civilizations in the realm. Further details have yet to be revealed on the series, nor the two additional animated shows.
The site also reports that WarnerMedia is not moving forward with its proposed “Flea Bottom” series, which would have been based in the slum of King’s Landing. That series was apparently the newest and least developed of the spinoff ideas that were reported on, and HBO never officially confirmed it.
HBO and HBO Max have the upcoming House of the Dragon prequel in development, which will arrive in 2022 and will be set during the civil war between House Targaryen.
