Trevor Noah To Step Down As The Host of The Daily Show

Deadline reports that Trevor Noah is stepping down as the host of The Daily Show after seven years. Noah took over the role from Jon Stewart back in 2015. Noah announced his exit during the taping of the show on Thursday. He had been working with Comedy Central for ‘a long time’ to figure out how to keep up with the daily schedule.

This is the latest late night host to exit after Conan O’Brien ended his run in 2021 and TBS cancelled Samantha Bee’s Full Frontal. James Corden also recently announced he would be leaving The Late Late Show in 2023.

Noah said he felt “gratitude” and thanked the audience.

He said: “It’s been wild. I remember when we first started, so many people thought it was a crazy bet, I still think it was a crazy choice, this random African. What a journey’s it’s been. It’s been absolutely amazing. After the seven years, my time is up. In the most beautiful way. I’ve loved hosting this show.”

It’s unknown when he will leave and a replacement has not been named. For the “time being,” Noah will continue to host.
