Community had its six seasons, and now it finishes the prophecy with a movie being confirmed. Variety reports that Peacock has given an order to the movie, which will follow up on the NBC comedy from Dan Harmon. Original stars Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong are all set to return for the film, which was jointly announced by Peacock and Sony Pictures TV.

Details on the new film’s plot have yet to be revealed. No mention was made of former Community stars Chevy Chase, Donald Glover, and Yvette Nicole Brown, and it’s not clear if the latter two will at least make a cameo. Chase’s return is exceedingly unlikely due to his famous falling out with Harmon and the cast — not to mention the fact that his character Pierce Hawthorne died following the fourth season.

Community was never a massive ratings hit, but it had a fanatical following among fans and consistently praised by critics. The show aired five seasons on NBC before being cancelled; the sixth season aired on Yahoo!’s now defunct Yahoo! Screen. Harmon will executive produce the film and co-write it with Andrew Guest.

“‘Six seasons and a movie’ started out as a cheeky line from Community’s early seasons and quickly ignited a passionate fan movement for this iconic, hilarious and cool (cool, cool) NBC comedy,” said Susan Rovner, chairman, entertainment content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “We’re incredibly grateful that 15 years later, we are able to deliver fans this promised movie and can’t wait to get to work with Dan Harmon, Andrew Guest, Joel McHale, Sony and our partners at UTV to continue this epic comedy for Peacock audiences.”
