AEW star and reigning TBS Champion Mercedes Mone only has a handful of losses in AEW, with many fans believing that the wrestler often refuses to lose or do the job. However, this is apparently not the case, as explained by Dave Meltzer during today’s Wrestling Observer Radio.

Regarding a fan question about The Hurt Syndicate and getting “Miro” and “Aleister Black” like vibes from the wrestlers, Dave Meltzer took note of how Bobby Lashley has not taken any pinfall losses in AEW, and he and Shelton Benjamin didn’t make it into the Continental Classic tournament. Meltzer explained how being in the tournament means you have to lose some matches unless you are the winner.

Meltzer stated on Lashley, “You can tell the guys who don’t want to lose, or that Tony — you know, whatever. You can see it. They all deny it, but you can watch the booking.”

However, one wrestler who apparently never takes issue with losing or how she’s booked in AEW is Mercedes Mone. Meltzer explained that Mone holding the TBS Title for over 545 days and holding 13 belts across various promotions is not because she refuses to lose.

Meltzer continued, “I know some people jump on Mercedes, but Mercedes loses when the time is right, and I’ve never heard of any problems with Mercedes losing, but you shouldn’t be beating Mercedes often.”

Mone has notably lost in AEW Women’s World Title bouts, including against Timeless Toni Storm and, most recently, Kris Statlander. Statlander beat Mone last weekend at AEW Full Gear to retain her title, although the TBS Title was not on the line.

Meltzer speculated that Lashley and Shelton Benjamin’s situations are different from that of Miro and Aleister Black because the latter were likely trying to protect themselves before returning to WWE. Meanwhile, Meltzer stated that he doesn’t think Lashley and Benjamin are looking to return to WWE at this point for various factors, including their ages.’

The Babes of Wrath also defeated the team of Mercedes Mone and Athena to advance in the Women’s Tag Team Title Tournament on AEW Dynamite earlier this month. Athena was the one who was pinned to take the loss for the team.

It was also reported earlier by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Mercedes Mone was willing to lose to Athena in the Owen Hart Tournament. However, Mone won the match and went on to face Toni Storm for the title at AEW All In Texas. Storm beat Mone to retain her title at the pay-per-view card.
