Je’Von Evans lived up to his billing at NXT Deadline, as he won the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge to earn a shot at the NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil. However, the night did not end on a positive note for Evans, as he was taken down by a returning Tony D’Angelo. The show ended with a confrontation between D’Angelo and newly crowned NXT Champion Oba Femi.

Evans started off the proceedings alongside Leon Slater. The two showed off their athleticism and traded several near falls before The Young OG delivered a Hurricanrana to Slater to pick up his first points. However, his elation was short-lived, as Dion Lennox, who entered at number four, took him out with an Emerald Flowsion to pick up a point via pinfall.

Joe Hendry entered the match at number five and started dominating proceedings from the get-go. Hendry planted the number-three entrant, Myles Borne, with a spinning fireman’s carry slam to earn his first points. Leon Slater earned his first points by taking out Je’Von Evans with a Coast-to-Coast Swanton and then hitting Hendry with the Swanton 450. Myles Borne soon got into the act, as he pinned Dion Lennox following his trademark Borne Again to make it a five-way draw.

Lennox then attacked Hendry in the penalty box. However, Joe eventually recovered and returned to the ring. Dion wasn’t done, though, as he trapped Je’Von inside the penalty box. However, The Young OG managed to escape. Chaos ensued in the final few moments of the match, as Leon hit Evans with a 450 Swanton. Hendry tried to powerbomb Slater, but the latter dragged him out of the ring via a Hurricanrana.

With few seconds to go for the 25-minute deadline, Myles Borne sent Dion Lennox over the commentary desk and entered the ring, only to be pinned by Je’Von Evans via rollup. The Young OG will now challenge Oba Femi for the NXT Title at New Year’s Evil on January 6.

The points distribution is as follows:

Je’Von Evans- 2
Leon Slater-1
Myles Borne-1
Joe Hendry- 1
Dion Lennox- 1
