The Hardys have worked a fair amount with Umaga’s son Zilla Fatu, and they say it’s “surreal” to be able to work with the man they once knew as a baby. Matt and Jeff Hardy worked a lot in WWE with Umaga, with Jeff in particular getting a chance to feud with the late Samoan star in 2007 and 2008.

Almost 20 years later, the two have had a chance to work with Zilla Fatu both in House of Glory and 4th Rope Wrestling. Fatu has even worn face paint inspired by Jeff and asked the TNA star for his blessing to do so. The Hardys were asked about that relationship on the Direct Discussion Podcast and you can see some highlights below:

Jeff On Zilla Fatu Asking For His Blessing To Paint His Face:

“Oh, it’s incredible and very surreal. I mean, I met him when he was a newborn baby. It was just crazy. And now that we’ve teamed with him several times, and I painted his face several times. We’ll definitely team with him again and and have interaction with him. But his dad was probably in my singles career my most favorite feud ever, you know? Because we had such good chemistry, and just gelled so well together. You know, the big guy against the the small dude. And yeah just, every time I’m in the ring with Zilla man, it just makes me proud that I’ve made it this far.”

Matt On Their Relationship with Fatu:

“I mean, I love it. We were both great friends with Umaga, with his dad obviously. And the fact that his son now kind of hangs with us as well, and we got to hang with his dad, it’s really cool. We actually got to wrestle him at House of Glory just a couple weeks ago and it’s cool. I added him to the list of fathers and sons that I’ve wrestled now, which is wild.

“But dude, he’s got so much potential, and you can tell it means a lot to him. Because as a child, he obviously knew who we were and I’m sure he heard from his dad and looked up to us. So now to kind of be on the same level with us as peers, his colleagues, is very, very cool.”

Jeff On His Desire For Match Alongside Fatu:

“Yeah, we got one thing we’ve got to make happen in the future when we do another six-man tag match. We were going to paint up, like do the black light glow-in-the-dark paint, all three of us at one of these big 4th Rope shows. But it got rained out, or the weather, had to be cancelled. But yeah, somewhere down the road we’re going to make that happen. We’re all going to be glowing in the black light on the way to the ring.”
