AEW World Champion MJF notched up his maiden successful defense in his latest reign on this week’s episode of Dynamite. Friedman forced RUSH to submit in the No Countout match that opened the show this past Wednesday night.

However, even though MJF emerged victorious in the high-stakes bout, he did not come out of the match unscathed. Following Dynamite, Beyond Wrestling reported on X that MJF hyperextended his knee during the bout and would not be able to compete against Bobby Orlando at the indie promotion’s Break the Walls Down event on Friday, June 6.

This led many fans to wonder about the severity of the injury. Yesterday, Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez informed his subscribers on X that MJF’s injury is indeed legit, and AEW is hoping it’s not serious enough for him to miss out on in-ring action.

“MJF injury is legit, but they’re hoping it’s not serious,” Alvarez wrote on X.

With MJF injured, Beyond Wrestling announced Andrade El Idolo as his replacement for tonight’s event. You can read more about that HERE.

411Mania wishes the reigning AEW World Champion a speedy recovery.
