Tributes continue to pour in for Benjamin ‘PAC’ Satterley, who tragically passed away on Sunday, September 27.
WWE recently uploaded a video to its YouTube channel, in which Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Sami Zayn, Becky Lynch, Bayley, William Regal, and more paid tribute to the former Neville. Here’s what KO, Zayn, and Finn said:
Kevin Owens recounts his first meeting with Benjamin Satterley
“I met Ben in 2006 in the UK. We had a match that night. I remember he was really nervous before the match and pretty awkward. And then we went out and had that match and when I came back and told him, ‘Hey, you’re like the best wrestler I’ve seen or worked with.’ And from that moment on, he was pretty much my favorite wrestler. But beyond that, he became such a great friend. As a performer, there is nothing at all that he couldn’t do better than anyone else. He could fly, he could brawl, he could do technical wrestling better than anyone. He could move better than anybody. And you’d have never heard him ever imply for even one second that he was the best wrestler in the world. Because that just is not who he was, and you know, everyboddy been sharing words about him and testimonies and stories and talking about how incredible he was, and he would have hated that. But I think everybody is doing it not only to honor him, but also I think it’s very therapeutic; I know it’s for me.
“You know, all week, I wanted to try and write something or find the words, and it’s been so difficult. But ultimately, everything that everyone has said about him is completely true. He was a fantastic person. When I first got on the main roster, he and I would get to travel together 4-5 days a week, and he made me laugh so much. I’m going to cherish those memories so much. And you know, one thing that I’m haunted by selfishly is that I don’t know if he knew how much I admired him and loved him. Ben brought so many people together this week because everyone feels the loss so hard, and that’s a testament to the kind of person he was. I feel for Natalie and for his mom and his dad, but I also feel for everybody that knew him, because it’s gonna leave a huge hole in everyone’s heart that had a privilege to know him.”
Sami Zayn admits struggles in finding the perfect words to describe his relationship with PAC
“I really don’t wanna do this, obviously, right? I mean, and I know you, and my God, you would not want to do this, right? I’m going to be totally honest with you here, man, because I feel like because you were my brother, because I grew up with you, because we knew each other since we were kids, we grew up the entire way together. We became men together. I just feel because our bond was so close that I feel this pressure that I know you’d have felt too, like, I don’t know, cry harder and tell better stories than anybody else. And I don’t have it in me now, man. Not right now. I don’t have the words. I tried; I tried all week. I saw all these posts coming in and all these tribute videos, and here I’m feeling guilty, like, ‘God, I gotta say something. I got to do something. I got to find the perfect words and perfect pictures to show how close we were, you know?’
“And it doesn’t exist, man. I have hundreds of pictures of us. I’m supposed to find these perfect words to articulate this grief, and they don’t exist. I just love you. I’ll never forget you. I’ll never forget the memories we had. Thank You! You know, that’s what I don’t know if I ever really got to express to you. I told you I loved you, you told me you loved me. We knew the brotherhood, we knew the bond, and we knew all that stuff. But I don’t think I ever got to thank you. So thanks, man. Thank you, buddy! Thanks for everything!”
Finn Balor grateful to PAC for his friendship
“Hey mate, I just want to say: thanks for being a friend. I’ll never forget meeting you for the first time on some wrestling mats in the basement of a church in Newcastle when we were just kids. And from there, we went on to be such great friends. From our nights out in Japan to our time together in NXT, to traveling the world together with WWE, to visiting my parents in Ireland, to visiting your wife and your mum in Newcastle and having cups of tea together.
“I think our bond was so strong because we had such upbringings, such similar values. We’d have the craic about the football, we talked about ‘Father Fed,’ we talked about pretty much everything except for wrestling. And you’ll be with be everywhere we go. And like we would always say, ‘What a laugh, mate!’ What a laugh I had with you. I can’t thank you enough. I love you, Ben!”
Earlier this week, additional details on Benjamin’s death were revealed. More on that HERE.
