Backstage Note on Current AEW Status of Billy Gunn

In the latest Fightful Select Answers Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp answered a fan question regarding AEW talent and coach and WWE Hall of Famer Billy Gunn. Gunn hasn’t appeared on AEW or ROH programming in a while.

Sapp said that Billy Gunn is “technically” still part of AEW, but noted he hasn’t heard if Gunn has been working backstage as of late. He also noted that Gunn took some time off the road earlier.

Gunn is still officially on the AEW roster, as he recently worked a dark match for the AEW Collision TV tapings in Kentucky last week. Gunn teamed with Brady Booker, and they picked up a win over The Premier Athletes.

Despite the 62-year-old Gunn not appearing on AEW or ROH programming for a while, he’s still active on the independents. In addition to his recent AEW Collision dark match, he worked a dark match last month for Ring of Honor as well.
