Hello everyone and welcome to 411mania’s LIVE coverage of UFC on ABC 7, I’m Robert Winfree and I’ll be your host for the event. The UFC is over in Abu Dhabi for this one, and they brought a pretty decent card on paper. The main event could crown your next title challenger when Cory Sandhagen takes on Umar Nurmagomedov, they’ve tried to make this fight before and it fell apart but now we’re finally getting it and with some pretty high stakes attached as well. Our co-main event was supposed to be Nick Diaz and Vicente Luque but Diaz was never flying halfway across the planet to a fully sober country, so instead we’ve got Shara Magomedov taking on Michal Oleksiejczuk which is a fine enough fight. The whole main card is solid, Deiveson Figueriedo continues his bantamweight campaign against Marlon Vera, Tony Ferguson tries to end a seven fight losing streak, Mackenzie Dern is trying to make another push towards the title picture, and Joel Alvarez vs. Elves Brener has high entertainment potential. The prelims are a little thinner but still not too bad, so let’s hope this card delivers in practice.

UFC on ABC 7 comes to the world from Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. John Gooden, Daniel Cormier, and Paul Felder will be calling the action. I’m unaware of any rules quirks and the UFC might basically be self regulating here so I’ll keep you updated on any rules issues that might come up. Also keep in mind we’re in the 30 foot Octagon.

Sedriques Dumas has gone 2-2 and he’s coming off of a loss, he’s trying to get his UFC record back above the .500 mark while also avoiding his first losing streak. Denis Tiuliulin has gone 1-4 in the UFC and is on a three fight losing streak, he could very easily be fighting for his job here. The odds like Dumas at -245 to +200 for Tiuliulin.

Middleweight Bout: Sedriques Dumas (9-2, 186 lbs.) vs. Denis Tiuliulin (11-9 1 NC, 185 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Dumas is an inch taller with two inches of reach advantage, he’s also 8 years younger. Early leg kick from Dumas. Tiuliulin lands a knee, but Dumas is able to tie up and force a clinch. Dumas winds up on the back in a clinch and lands some knees to the thigh. Tiuliulin is looking to hit a switch but he’s struggling. Tiuliulin is kind of stuck here, he’s not fighting the grip of Dumas and that means he’s not really ever going to get out of this spot. Eventually Tiuliulin fights up and steps behind Dumas to hit a bit of a valley drop takedown to get on top in half guard. Dumas wall walks into a clinch and pushes Tiuliulin into the fence. Dumas throws a knee, that one strays a little low so we’ve got a time out. Tiuliulin only takes 25 seconds then we’re back to fighting. Bit of a right hand from Dumas. Tiuliulin pushes forward, then avoids a takedown but both men look a little faded already. Tiuliulin over sprawls on a takedown so Dumas slips to the back and resumes working knees to the leg. The round will end in that spot.

The ref breaks them up, I can live with that one. Tiuliulin moves forward right away. Front kick from Dumas then Tiuliulin lands a leg kick. Dumas lands a few jabs. Tiuliulin tries a knee that doesn’t quite land as the round ends.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Dumas, 20-18 Dumas overall

ROUND THREE: Dumas is circling and still looking to jab. Leg kick from Dumas. Tiuliulin’s left elbow is badly swollen, not sure if that was pre-existing or what but that looks at a minimum like a bursa sac issue. Knee from Tiuliulin lands. Dumas lands a couple of jabs. OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Sedriques Dumas via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28 x2)

Not sure about that 30-27 but I’m not up in arms over it. Dumas gets an interview, he talks about dealing with a house fire and his grandfather being in the hospital with apparently not much time left, so he was definitely going to win. He says he’s here to stay.

Jai Herbert has gone 2-4-1 in the UFC and was last seen losing to Fares Ziam, he’s trying to get his first win in a little over two years here. Rolando Bedoya has gone 0-2 in the UFC but that’s been somewhat saved by both of those being very entertaining fights, though he still really needs to find that first UFC win as he’s dropping down to lightweight for the first time. Herbert is your favorite at -125 while that even +100 payout on Bedoya might be a tempting little value bet.

Lightweight Bout: Rolando Bedoya (14-3, 155 lbs.) vs. Jai Herbert (12-5-1, 155.5 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Herbert is two inches taller with three inches of reach advantage, he’s also 9 years older. Bedoya doing a bit of stance switching early as both men probe with kicks. SCORECARD: 10-9 Herbert

Bedoya lands a leg kick. Body kick from Herbert. Bedoya falls short with a few punches but he’s still looking to engage. One two from Herbert. Bedoya has a few punches blocked then Herbert lands another one two. Herbert with a right hand, they clinch and Bedoya lands a low blow so we’ve got a time out. OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Jai Herbert via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27 x2)

Mic time for Herbert, he plays with the crowd and he says he’s going to be even better next time. He knew Bedoya would be tough and mentions he’s been watching a lot of Olympic judo recently and got to throw in a few judo throws here.

Viktoriia Dudakova is undefeated including two UFC wins, she’s looking to firmly establish herself as a prospect on the rise by keeping her perfect record in tact. OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Sam Hughes via split decision (27-30, 29-28 x2)

Giving all three rounds to Dudakova is a little nuts, no way Hughes lost the second round at a minimum. No interview for Hughes.

Guram Kutateladze has gone 1-2 in the UFC which is somewhat mitigated by one of those being a tight split decision and the other him being on the wrong end of a comeback win, still he’s trying to make good on the potential he’s shown by getting back on the winning side of things. Jordan Vucenic took this on somewhat short notice but he’s a Cage Warriors champion and currently riding a four fight winning streak, he’s hoping to maximize the shot at a first impression. The odds like Kutateladze at -225 but Vucenic is getting some respect even on short notice at +185.

Fun fight there, Vucenic looked every bit a UFC ready fighter despite coming up a little short. No interview for Kutateladze.

Shamil Gaziev has gone 1-1 in the UFC but he’s coming off of his first career loss which means he’s trying to bounce back with a win here. Don’Tale Mayes has gone 4-4 with 1 No Contest in the UFC, he was last seen winning a decision a few months back and now looks for his first winning streak since 2021. The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Fernandes for his work this afternoon. Mic time for Fernandes and the translator, he feels very good and will be doing even better going forward. He talks us through the finish, he’s doing OK with his English here but still needs to hear the questions in Portuguese. He is happy to show who he is, wants to fight again soon, then thanks his team and family for all of their work and support before closing with some love for the crowd.

Yahya is beat up to the legs and here tries from southpaw, which is not his regular stance, to enter with a high kick. Unfortunately he comes in on a straight line and with his hands dropping, so Fernandes intercepts him with a hard couple of punches to put him down.

Azamat Murzakanov is undefeated including three UFC outings, all of which has contributed to him earning a ranking. Now he’s hoping to remain undefeated and continue ascending the ranks of the contenders, he’s been out of action for a little over a year though. Mic time for Murzakanov and the translator, he acknowledges how long he’s been out of action but he’s back and now that he’s 14-0 he’d like to fight someone in the top 5 next. He puts over Menifield’s toughness then appreciates the support from the crowd. To close he’s asked specifically if he has a name for his next opponent, he says he doesn’t like to be on the prelims at this point and would prefer a main card spot next.

Menifield was game but he was a bit too slow and couldn’t adapt his defense to Murzakanov’s offense. Lovely finish here from Murzakanov, and I think he probably is due a bigger name next.

Well that’s it for the prelims, onto ABC and the main card.
