Bobby Lashley Thinks MMA Fight With Brock Lesnar Would Have ‘Broken Some Numbers’

Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar both had successful runs in MMA, and Lashley thinks a fight between them would have been huge. The two competed in the ring in WWE, but they never had the MMA fight that fans often asked for when Lashley was in Strikeforce and then Bellator. Lashley weighed in on that lost opportunity in his appearance on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, who asked if there was ever really a chance of it happening.

“I think it would have been awesome, and we would have broken some numbers,” Lashley said (per Fightful). “A lot of people tried to talk, ‘I was chasing Brock.’ No. When I first came in, a lot people were trying to naturally fantasy book. We had similar characters. I didn’t accomplish the things Brcok did, but people still looked at it as, ‘Brock needs a match, that’s the guy he should match up with.’ When I went into fighting, they did the same thing. ‘Let’s get them to fight.’”

He continued, “We never really matched as far as time. When Brock got back into fighting, I was into wrestling. When I got out of wrestling and into fighting, Brock was in wrestling. We were never in the same environment at the same time until I was in WWE and he came back.”

Lashley had a 15 – 2 record in MMA, which included stints in Strikeforce, Bellator, Titan FC and others. Lesnar competed in the UFC and went 5 – 3 – 1, with a reign as UFC Heavyweight Champion.
