UPDATE: According to MMAjunkie.com, Dr. Jeff Davidson, a UFC medical consultant who worked the event, states that Oliveira suffered a micro-tear of his esophagus.

ORIGINAL: Last night in the main event of UFC Fight Night 74, the fight was stopped due to an injury due to Oliveira being injured going for a takedown. Oliveira spoke with mmafighting.com about the situation, here is what he had to say…

“I injured my neck in training, but did physical therapy and thought everything was fine. But when I felt against the cage everything went numb, I couldn’t feel my body. I trained really hard for this fight.

I’m still doing a lot of exams here at the hospital.

I would like a rematch because there was no fight. I got injured literally in the first time I attacked.”
