Conor McGregor Petitions For Review of UFC 202 Fine
Conor McGregor has asked for a judicial review of the $150,000 fine for his water bottle-throwing incident with Nate Diaz just before UFC 202. MMAjunkie reports that according to civil court records in Clark County, Nevada, McGregor has filed for the judicial review appeal and named NSAC Executive Director Bob Bennett and the NSAC as respondents.
A hearing has yet to be scheduled on the request. McGregor was fined 5% of his disclosed pay for the event due to his part of the incident along with fifty hours of community service, 10% was to go into participation in an NSAC-branded anti-bullying PSA. The NSAC also ordered that half of the fine would go toward funding the ad.
McGregor apologized at a hearing regarding the event, saying he threw a bottle only in response to seeing an object flying at his teammate. The attorney general’s office had recommented a $25,000 fine, twenty-five hours of community service and five hours of “media training.”
