Dada 5000 Still In Hospital Under Observation, Manager Comments On Training
In a post on the Facebook page of Dhafir “DADA 5000” Harris, his family provided another statement on how he is doing.
They wrote: “We had hoped to bring Dada’s fans and supporters news that he would be released today after completing a full week in the Hospital, however, his Doctors have required that he stay through the weekend and into early next week for continued monitoring and observation. If his progress continues as it has he should be released early next week. We appreciate the outpour of support from fans all around the country wishing Dada a speedy recovery, your kind words and prayers are heard. We would also like to thank the good people at BELLATOR, the EMT’s, doctors and nurses at the Hospital, his friends and everyone who has worked their best for Dada to get better. Thank you.”
Meanwhile, his manager, Mike Vazquez, spoke with MMA Junkie about DADA 5000’s training and the possibility that he’ll fight again. He said that a nutritionist helped Harris drop 40 pounds gradually, but he wasn’t used to losing such a significant portion of his weight and quickly ran out of energy as a result. Here are highlights:
On if Dada will fight again: “It’s pretty much safe to say Dada will not be getting back into a ring, unless it’s to help his friends.”
On Dada not being used to cutting so much weight: “There was no history or track record of him cutting weight.”
On losing to Kimbo Slice: “He had it literally in his hands, and unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be.”
