Finish for Darren Stewart vs. Francimar Barroso at UFC Fight Night 100 Overturned to No Contest
The Commissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA or CABMMA (via MMAjunkie) has announced today that the finish for the opening bout for UFC Fight Night 100 last weekend between Darren Stewart and Francimar Barroso has been overturned. The fight was originally ruled a TKO win for Stewart. However, after some controversy, the fight has now been ruled a no contest.
Barroso appealed the loss after the fight in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and it has now been changed to a No Contest. It was ruled because the finish came after Barroso was hit by an illegal head butt from Stewart.
The CABMMA reviewed the fight and ruled that the referee had an opportunity to use the instant replay rule after the head butt had occurred. It was decided that Herdy would’ve given Stewart a warning for the foul if he had seen it from a better angle, even if it was unintentional, and the foul directly led to the outcome of the fight.
UFC Fight Night 100 was held last Saturday at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The main card was broadcast live on FS1. Prelims were shown on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
