Jake Ellenberger Explains His Decision to Retire After UFC Fight Night 135 Loss
Jake Ellenberger spoke with MMAjunkie following his announcement that he was retiring after his loss to Brian Barbarena at UFC Fight Night 135. Highlights are below:
On what prompted him to announce his retirement: “I don’t know. My kids … their future and time with them has really encouraged that decision. But this is the toughest sport in the world. It really is, and things don’t always go your way. I would say it came a little shorter than I would have liked, but that’s what it is right now. So I’m in the process of moving forward.”
On not considering retirement until he took the loss: “But he caught me. It was one of those things – you’ve got to keep moving forward.”
On what he’s planning to do next: “I’ve got a few ideas, but nothing’s set yet. I’ve got a few options right now.”
