Jake Paul appears to have found his replacement fight, as he’s reportedly close to finalizing a deal to face Anthony Joshua next month. As previously reported, Paul was set to face Gervonta Davis in a fight that would have streamed live on Netflix this Friday. However, the fight was cancelled following allegations of alleged battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress by Davis’ ex-girlfriend.
MVP announced that Paul would fight in a Netflix-streamed live event by the end of the year. That appears to be against Joshua, according to Ring Magazine’s Mike Coppinger. Coppinger reports that the two sides are finalizing a deal for a heavyweight fight in Miami, Florida. The fight would take place in December and stream on Netflix.
Joshua is a two time heavyweight champion. He held the unified world heavyweight championships from April 2017 to June of 2019. He gained the championships match in December 2019 and held them until September 2021.
Meanwhile, Paul’s most recent fight was against Julio César Chávez Jr. on June 28th. Paul won the fight via unanimous decision.
