Hello everyone and welcome to 411mania’s LIVE coverage of UFC on ESPN+ 113, I’m Robert Winfree and I’ll be your host for the event. The UFC is back in London for this one and because they had to sell tickets they’ve brought a decent Fight Night card. The main event is unlikely to crown the next title contender at welterweight but that’s largely a byproduct of Shavkat Rakhmanov being injured at the moment and still having dibs, but that’s still potentially complicated by the upcoming title fight between Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena and if weirdness breaks out around that then even more bets will be off. All that said former champion Leon Edwards taking on Sean Brady will put the winner in good position around the title depending on the UFC’s needs. The co-main event could set up the next title challenger after Alex Pereira and Magomed Ankalaev have their presumptive rematch when former champion Jan Blachowicz takes on surging contender Carlos Ulberg. Elsewhere on the card Gunnar Nelson is making his first appearance in a little over two years against Kevin Holland, hey fun fact but Nelson has fought a whopping 5 times during Holland’s entire 25 fight UFC run. There’s a lot of the regular UK faces here but some decent fights, Nathaniel Wood vs. Morgan Charriere for one, Chris Padilla and Jai Herbert could be fun, and even the curtain jerker of Guram Kutateladze vs. Kaue Fernandes has decent potential. All in all, there’s reason to be optimistic about this one.

UFC on ESPN+ 113 comes to the world from the O2 Arena in London, England. John Gooden, Michael Bisping, and Paul Felder will be calling the action for us. We’ll still be under the newer rules and in the larger 30 foot cage since we’re not in the warehouse.

Guram Kutateladze has gone 2-2 in the UFC but he is coming off of a win and he’s trying to get his first UFC winning streak up and running here. Kaue Fernandes has gone 1-1 in the UFC but he’s also coming off of a win and looking for his first UFC winning streak. Kutateladze is a pretty big favorite at -375 to +295 on Fernandes.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Caolan Loughran via split decision (28-29, 29-28 x2)

I don’t think 29-28 for Loughran is fully wrong but I don’t agree with it. Mic time for Loughran and he knew he had to dig deep in the third round and force things his way. He does the pseudo inspirational thing to close.

Shauna Bannon has gone 1-1 in the UFC and got a split decision her last time out and now looks to get her UFC record above the .500 mark for the first time. Mic time for Duncan, he thought the fight might have been over in the first then puts over his new team at American Top Team. He wants Terrance McKinney in Miami if possible, it’s a reasonable fight even if the timeline isn’t. He asks for a post fight bonus, given that finishes are still at a bit of a premium he might get it.

Molly McCann has gone 1-3 in her last four fights and most recently dropped a decision to Bruna Brasil, she’s trying to get another win on her native soil. The First Round Finish Club thanks Ms. Thainara for her work. Mic time for Thainara and the translator, she puts over the UFC for getting her a shot and says she always delivers. She plays a bit with the crowd to close.

McCann gets an interview as well, she put down her gloves and seems to be retiring and puts over the UFC brass then says she’s given us her heart and soul and if this is all she can do against a short notice opponent she’s not going to keep showing up for just a paycheck. She thanks the UFC brass again to close.

Gunnar Nelson is on a two fight winning streak but his last fight was a little over two years ago. For a guy who’s been with the UFC since 2012 he’s only got a UFC record of 10-5 during that 13 year stretch, not exactly the most active guy. Anyway he’s trying to get another win here then take another hiatus. Kevin Holland is just 1-4 in his last five fights, a few taken on short notice or up at middleweight and at this point his career is a little all over the place. Holland is back at welterweight and is trying to halt his current skid. Despite the layoff the odds like Nelson at -130 to Holland’s +110.

A few punches land for Nelson but now Holland really has full guard back. Bit of a right from Nelson, then another one. Nelson passes to side control then attacks an arm triangle from half guard. OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Kevin Holland via unanimous decision (29-28 x3)

Nelson maybe getting the third isn’t out of line, the mount and arm triangle attack was very dangerous stuff. Mic time for Holland, he felt the fight could go either way and puts over Nelson as incredibly tough. He brings up that his grappling is good as long as he’s not outweighed by 30 or so pounds and says welterweight feels good for him but he’s still willing to move up to middleweight for people willing to strike and not hug. Asked about the future he’d like July for a welterweight fight but could do middleweight next week.

Jan Blachowicz is a former light heavyweight champion but he’s been out of action for almost two years and had double shoulder surgery during that time off. At the age of 42 and coming off of a loss he’s trying to reassert himself in the division and prove he’s still a viable title challenger. Carlos Ulberg has gone 7-1 in the UFC and is on a seven fight winning streak, he’s taking a bit of a step up here to a former champion and top ranked contender but given the dire situation in the division Ulberg might be able to get a title shot if he scores an impressive win here. Ulberg closed at -290 while that +235 comeback on Blachowicz might be a tempting little value bet.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Blachowicz but close, 29-28 Ulberg overall but who knows with how those rounds played out

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Carlos Ulberg via unanimous decision (29-28 x3)

I’m surprised that was unanimous, I’d be even more surprised if the rounds were unanimous amongst the judges. Mic time for Ulberg and he puts over Blachowicz as a tough opponent. Asked about the future he wants a title shot as he’s got the longest winning streak in the division right now. He worked hard to stick and move and remain upright because he knows how good Blachowicz is on the mat.

Leon Edwards is the former welterweight champion but he’s coming off of a fight where he lost the title and snapped an unbeaten streak that dated back to 2015, if Edwards wants to get a crack at reclaiming the title he cannot afford a loss here. Sean Brady is on a two fight winning streak and his only professional loss came to current champion Belal Muhammad, if he can get by a former champion in Edwards it could be Brady who winds up making a strong case for a shot at gold next. The odds lean towards Brady at -150 to +125 for Edwards.

Now Brady briefly gets the double wrist lock but Edwards gets his arm away from him. Brady gets the back again and fires strikes to the head. Edwards is able to shrimp to half guard but that squeeze from Brady is too much and Edwards has to tap out.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Sean Brady via Submission, mounted guillotine choke, at 1:39 of Round 4

Mic time for Brady, he jokes about not being small for the division he’s just short but not small given his muscle mass. He talks about taking this fight right after the birth of his child and feels he can do this to anyone in the division. Asked what he wants next he’d like a title shot then plays with the fans a bit before saying he’ll do whatever the UFC need him to do.

Well on that note UFC on ESPN+ 113 comes to a close. Thank you for reading, be that live or after the fact and remember we’ll be unpacking the fallout from this event tomorrow on the 411 Ground and Pound MMA Podcast, and previewing UFC on ESPN 64 next week when the UFC heads back to Mexico for Brandon Moreno to take on Steve Erceg. I don’t think I’ll be able to cover that one live but I will have a full report up at some point for it. Either way I do hope to see you all again soon. Until then stay safe out there and keep checking 411mania for all of your pop culture needs.
