Michel Prazeres Change Of Opponent Doesn’t Change His Gameplan
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Michel Prazeres (19-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) spoke about his upcoming UFC on FOX 20 fight with JC Cottrell (17-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC). It happens on Saturday from the United Center in Chicago. Here are highlights:
On his split decision with Valmir Lazaro: “Against Valmir it was a hotly contested bout. But he ran a lot. I kept looking for the fight. I thought I won. To be honest, I do think I fought poorly. I could have fought a lot better. I’m much better than what I showed. I believe the UFC wanted to keep just one out of the two of us, and gladly I remained.”
On his training: “I’m feeling very great, physically. And I’m very well trained, both standing and on the ground. I expect to have a great fight. I start my camp with my team (in Brazil). But a month prior, I go to the United States to finish out my training and adapt to the weather. In the U.S., my goal is to teach jiu-jitsu classes, putting a lot of emphasis on technique, so I can share what I know with my American students. I’d like to spend a long stretch of maybe two years in the U.S., teaching and getting to know the country. I feel very thankful for everyone who trusts the work we’ve been doing.”
On his late opponent change: “I won’t say it doesn’t affect me – it does. But I train to face anybody. I train as if a world title and my own life are on the line. I’ll be taking the same approach. I’ll chase after him. I’m going to war. I’m planning to have a good fight and hopefully be victorious. If he wants to stand, fight on the ground or wrestle, I’m ready.”
