Mikkel Parlo Open To Taking Down Chris Honeycutt
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Mikkel Parlo (13-2 MMA, 4-2 BMMA) said he’s open to the idea of trying to take down Chris Honeycutt (7-1 MMA, 3-1 BMMA) when they fight at Bellator 156. The event happens on Friday at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California. Here are highlights:
On learning to trust his body again after the injury: “I don’t even think about it anymore. I don’t think about it when I train or anything. I don’t have any fear of it happening again. I feel like my knee has become stronger from the rehab and the surgery. That’s not holding me back, for sure. Obviously, that took a while to get to where I am. Now I’m here.”
On his training: “I’ve been working on my striking. I always work on it and work on keeping it sharp, but for the last six months, I had a wrestler who was on the Olympic team in Moldova living with me and working on my wrestling. All of a sudden, I face a good wrestler.”
On going for a takedown: “I already had good defensive wrestling, but I always look to improve everything. I also work on my offensive wrestling. I’m open to the idea of me taking him down, putting him on his back and giving him some punches.”
