MMA Junkie reports that Zu Anyanwu has been notified that he failed a U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) drug test and could have violated the UFC’s anti-doping policy. This was part of an out-of-competition sample taken on October 18.
USADA said in a statement: “USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Anyanwu. Under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair legal process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.”
Anyanwu signed with the UFC after getting a second-round KO of Greg Rebello at the first Dana White Contender Sseries event. He previously fought for the CFFC and won their heavyweight title. In his UFC debut, he lost by split decision to Justin Ledet at UFC Fight Night 116 in September. He hasn’t been booked for his second fight yet.
