The upcoming Animaniacs will feature the original voice cast, as well as Pinky and The Brain. In was announced on the Animaniacs podcast Animanicast that Rob Paulsen, Jess Harnell, and Tress MacNeille will return to voice Yakko, Wakko and Dot, respectively. In addition, Paulsen told ComicBook.com that he will play Pinky again opposite Maurice LaMarche returning as the Brain.

“It’s impossible to quantify what a compliment that is,” Paulson said about being asked to return. “Moreover, to be able to do that again, with Maurice, with Tress, with Jess. Yakko, Wakko, and Dot are back and so are Pinky and the Brain. Moreover is that in this era of celebrities doing a lot of animated characters — and I get why the producers do it. I totally get it — but I also know that just having a movie star do the talking chicken doesn’t mean that the show’s going to be a hit. You’ve got to have a good script, great characters, and terrific actors, whether they’re celebrities or not.”

Animaniacs was a staple of after-school entertainment for kids (and young adults, and somewhat older adults) of the 1990s, premiering as part of the Fox Kids block in 1993 before moving to The WB in 1995. It ended its run in 1998 but has remained popular in the nostalgic minds of fans ever since. Hulu ordered two seasons of the rebooted series, which was originally set to debut on the service this year. No word if the ongoing pandemic has pushed it out to next year.
