Bill Skarsgard To Reprise Pennywise Role In Welcome To Derry Series

Bill Skarsgard is putting the evil clown makeup back on, as he’ll return to the role of Pennywise in the Welcome To Derry series. Deadline has confirmed that Skarsgard, who played the role of Pennywise in the two It movies, will star in and executive produce the prequel series that is set up at Max.

The series also has Andy Muschietti, who directed the two films, producing along with Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs. Skarsgård joins Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Madeleine Stowe and Stephen Rider in the show, which will run nine episodes and see Andy Muschietti direct four of them.

The series is reportedly set to begin in the 1960s and the events leading up to It: Chapter One, and feature origins of Pennywise.

Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane will serve as co-showrunners.
