Rapper Snoop Dogg kicked off Wednesday’s (Apr. 15) keynote presentation for NBC Universal Pictures at the 2026 CinemaCon, announcing an upcoming biopic about his life. Dogg even provided some lyrics and tunes, performed by DJ Green Lantern.
Additionally, Dogg introduced Jonathan Daviss, who will star in the currently untitled film as him. Also, Hustle & Flow writer-director Craig Brewer will helm the upcoming motion picture. Daviss briefly joined Snoop onstage for the announcement.
Dogg also talked about having his own bungalow set up at the legendary Universal Pictures lot next to Steven Spielberg. He joked that the fire department had already been called multiple times on him. However, “there was no fire, only smoke!”
NBCUniversal Chair Donna Langley also joined Snoop onstage, saying that the upcoming feature will be a “spiritual cousin” of Straight Outta Compton, the 2015 biopic about the N.W.A., also released by Universal. The feature was directed by F. Gary Gray.
The untitled Snoop Dogg biopic is currently in the works and due out next year (2027). The rapper revealed that more details and a trailer would be revealed at next year’s CinemaCon.
