Contract Disputes Could Put Season 6 of Lucifer In Jeopardy
TVLine reports that a possible contract dispute over star Tom Ellis could put the sixth season of the Netflix series Lucifer in jeopardy. The negotiations between Ellis and Warner Bros. Television have come to an impasse, as Ellis rejected their most recent offer. He already has a season six deal in place, so if he doesn’t honor that he could be in breach of contract. WB has reportedly tried to ‘sweeten the pot’ several times.
A source said: “Everyone wants Tom to be happy. But there’s a limit, and it’s been reached.”
Netflix told Warner Bros. back in February they were hoping to extend the show beyond its fifth and final season, which has yet to debut. Two weeks later, new deals were reached with co-showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson. The supporting cast are expected to have their contract options picked up and if a deal with Ellis is reached, the show will return.
Netflix previously saved the show after Fox cancelled it following its third season.
