Daniel Craig Eyed To Star In Luca Guadagnino’s Sgt. Rock For DC Studios
Daniel Craig is circling the role of Sgt. Rock in DC Studios’ Sgt. Rock movie from Luca Guadagnino. THR reports that the Knives Out star is being eyes for the lead role in the film, which is based on the DC comic book about the World War II soldier.
The report notes that the film is still its early stages of development, and that neither Craig nor Guadagnino have deals in place yet. The film was written by Justin Kuritzkes, who wrote Guadagnino’s Challengers and Queer. The latter film stars Craig and is set to release in limited capacity this weekend before a wider release next month.
Sgt. Rock was created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert and debuted in Our Army at War #83 in June of 1959. The character has been targeted for films in the past, including one starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in the late 1980s and early 1990s as well as one in the late ’00s with Bruce Willis, but they’ve never come to pass.
